SYNODA JOURNEY: next steps: Would your parish or group like to spend some time on retreat together, reflecting on the synod responses from the parish and discerning the way ahead? Here are two opportunities available:

1. An ‘away’ retreat. Loreto Spirituality Centre Llandudno will host a “Synodal journey: Next Steps retreat” from August 4-7. If a group from your parish are interested in going away together for a few days (one to four days available) please get in touch. Closing date for booking is Monday 30 May 2022 in order to secure a place at the retreat house.

2. A retreat in daily life. If your parish would prefer to meet weekly for 6 weeks for an hour and a half each week, to reflect and discern your next steps, either in person or online, and would like support with this (materials, facilitators, check-ins), do get in touch at:

DIOCESE OF HALLAM: 40th Annual Shrine Pilgrimage to Walsingham: Saturday 23rd July 2022. Coach Pick-up locations are St Joseph's, Retford DN22 6LA at 08:20 Car Park available. St Helen's, Oldcotes S81 8JF at 08:40 Car Park available, and St Joseph the Worker, Worksop at 09:10.

Programme:- Arrive at Walsingham Village 12:15pm. Elham House will provide an (optional), Pre-booked 2-course lunch + Tea and Coffee at 1pm.The Procession will leave the Village at 2.15pm. Those with disability impairments will be escorted by Coach to the Shrine.Vigil Mass at 4.00pm. Depart Walsingham Shrine at 5.45pm….

NEW HALLAM NEWS PROJECT: Since the last edition of Hallam News, the communications group wants to thank you all for the warm welcome to Catalina. And is encouraging everyone to contribute with ideas. At this stage of the project we are welcoming all the ideas. How do you dream of the new Hallam News? What kind of news would it have? Which topics or subjects would the articles talk about?, etc. If answers to these questions pop in your mind, please get in touch with Catalina Cacua at communications@hallam-diocese.com and join the team to make this project go forward and be the voice of everyone in the diocese.


FLAME: FLAME is a Catholic gathering of young people in England and Wales! FLAME – CYMFed which has been going since 2012 and each time it gets bigger with almost 10,000 young people there in 2019! The event takes place 4th March 2023. The Hallam Diocese has tickets available (so PLEASE do not book your tickets through the main site).The suggested age is 13+ as there is a lot of sitting involved listening and engaging with music and speakers. The cost per person is likely to be £30. See link above.

Temporary Part-time Development Workers/Trainers for the region of:

RAINBOWS SOUTH YORKSHIRE

Applicants will be required to have an appropriate background in education, health or social welfare and should possess an understanding of the issues surrounding bereavement and loss.

Rainbows Bereavement Support GB is an increasingly successful national charity offering training in bereavement and loss to school staff and bereavement support programmes for children and young people grieving a significant and often devastating loss in their lives.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The essential purpose of this post is twofold:

1. To support the work of Rainbows currently operating in the schools across the regions.

2. To actively encourage additional schools in the region to ensure staff are trained in bereavement and loss issues and make use of Rainbows programmes as a proven and successful means of supporting children and young people through painful transitions in their lives.

It will be a requirement of the post that the successful candidate undergoes training to become a Rainbows Registered Director/Trainer.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

It is essential that applicants are able to show that they have:

• An appropriate understanding of the issues surrounding bereavement and loss

• An empathy towards vulnerable children and adults

• A willingness to undergo training as a Rainbows Registered Director (Dates to be mutually agreed).

• The ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with parents, school staff and a wide range of professionals

• The confidence and ability to train staff in schools and other settings

• Time management skills and an ability to prioritise workload with minimal supervision.

• Computer literate, with an ability to create high quality newsletters, invitations and publicity materials, and to manage basic computer databases, using Microsoft Office.

• The ability to be self-motivated, to work alone and as part of a team

In addition, applicants should hold a current driving licence and have access to a car. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.

While not essential, it will be desirable that applicants have an understanding of Rainbows groups in a school setting.
