NOTICES

BISHOP RALPH WRITES:  A note to thank you for your participation in and completion of the recent survey about our future together as the Diocese of Hallam.  I am really grateful to you for taking the time to take part. Your submissions are being looked at over the summer – with a view to sharing the findings at the end of September, and planning the next step.

Yours sincerely in Christ, the Redeemer,  Ralph, Bishop.

PENITENTIAL SERVICE:  Penitential services are being reinstated and the first takes place on Saturday 7th September at 5pm at St Joseph’s and continuing on the first Saturday of each month thereafter.

ALERT!:  The Diocese has asked that parishioners are alerted to a possible scam whereby a ‘travel agent’ is asking for large sums of money (for personal reasons) from pilgrims who  joined the Knock pilgrimage this year. It is not clear at this point whether the bank details provided for donations are genuine and whether the letter, which appears to be from the travel agent, is actually  from a scammer. If you receive such a letter you may wish to take this into consideration.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY - It’s back!  From the 1st September the Children’s Liturgy will be starting at St Joseph’s. We welcome our younger congregation (from age 4 upwards) to join us on the first Sunday of each month, giving an introduction to learn about Jesus and the Word of God.

FREE COMMUNITY BBQ:  Back by popular demand 3-6pm Sunday 1st September at Dinnington Methodist Church on Laughton Road and hosted by the churches of Dinnington.  All welcome.

COFFEE MORNING:  Our annual fund raising coffee morning for MacMillan Cancer Support is taking place on Friday 27th September 1pm-3pm.  Please come along and partake of the lovely bakes, enjoy the company and buy a plant or two from the plant stall! All welcome.

HELP! MINIBUS DRIVER NEEDED!:  Would you be able to take young adults to Oscott, Birmingham on the 15th of September? We have the opportunity to take part in Invocation at Adoremus - Catholic Bishops' Conference (cbcew.org.uk) - a day of workshops, Adoration, and Holy Mass for 16-35 year olds. I have a minibus but no driver - please contact smcdonald@hallam-diocese.com urgently. THANK YOU.

LOOKING FOR A LATE CATHOLIC GAP YEAR?:  Do you know anybody who is Catholic, aged around 18 to 22 and still not got anything lined up for the year ahead? Castlerigg Manor (the Diocese of Lancaster retreat centre, located in the Lake District) are still looking for young people to join their youth ministry in internship scheme. The scheme provides comprehensive training and experience as well as accommodation and food for the year, and a stipend each week. Anyone who is interested can check out castleriggmanor.com >> join the team, or Email Jack Regan – director@castleriggmanor.co.uk
