NOTICES

RETIRING COLLECTIONS:

Last weekends collection for  The Koby Foundation raised £168.11. Thankyou.

There will be retiring collections after Masses this weekend for the Annual Appeal which is for Caritas Hallam.  See below.

There will be a collection of  food items  for  The Salvation Army food bank during Advent.

ANNUAL APPPEAL  1st December:

Caritas Hallam – provides a loving service to those within our communities for instance 10,000 hours of counselling was delivered last year which included supporting children and their families in 24 of our schools, 100 referrals for domestic abuse, 15 wellbeing courses, relationship counselling and family therapy across the whole of the Diocese.  Caritas is self funded and has to fundraise in order to generate all its own income, which is why this Parish Annual Appeal is so important. Pope Benedict also wrote: As a community, the Church must practise love. Love thus needs to be organized if it is to be an ordered service to the community.

READER’S MEETING:

Please note that a meeting for readers is taking place December 10th after the 7pm Mass. in the parish rooms. It will include  information about the new Lectionary readings.

MASS FOR THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING:

A “signed” Mass has been arranged by Caritas at St Marie’s Cathedral Sheffield for Sunday Dec 15th at 3pm.

This will be fully signed by Jennifer Harris (BSL interpreter) along with one of the priests of the parish.

Prior to Covid, there was a well attended Mass for this group of people and we are hoping to schedule a number of such Masses throughout the Diocese.

All are invited.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

ADVENT AT ST BERNARD’S: St Bernard's Catholic High School will once again be holding early morning Masses in school  each Wednesday during Advent starting at 8am. They would love to see you there if you can make it to any of them.  The dates are:

4th December

11th December

18th December

LIVE SIMPLY DECEMBER:

Live Simply Be grateful this month, being grateful makes you happy

Live Sustainably with Creation There are proposals for 3 large solar farms to be built in our area. If they are built they will have both positive and negative effects on the environment and the look of the local landscape. Please check out the details and attend a consultation meeting if you can.

LECTIONARY BOOKS:

The new Lectionaries (the four books of Sunday, Feast Days and weekday readings) will be coming into use from Advent Sunday December the 1st. As the parish has had to purchase these at some cost,  we hoped that parishioners might like to take the opportunity to make a dedication to a loved one in the new books by donating to the cost.  We will then arrange to write the names of your loved ones in the new books in due course.
