SATURDAY 23rd MARCH 2024 NATIONAL DAY OFPRAYER & FASTING FOR LIFE:

A great prayer for Life is urgently needed. St John Paul II

On 23rd March, the Vigil of Palm Sunday, please pray and fast for the end of abortion and euthanasia. Pray especially that the Government will not bring in the National Buffer Zones. Your prayer and fasting is urgently needed.

Also: Join us each month in Prayer and Fasting: Fasting:  Fast from all food except bread and water for the day Or Fast from a particular food or luxury, e.g. chocolate, alcohol, cigarettes, TV. Fast from whatever you can, given your state of health etc, but make sure it is something that involves a sacrifice to yourself. Prayer:  We are asking people to say a Rosary (or an extra Rosary if you say it daily already). You could also offer an extra effort such as going to Mass (or an extra Mass) on the day, or going to Adoration. You can even pray before a closed tabernacle if Adoration is not available near you.

And the people of Ninevah believed in God; they proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least...God saw their efforts to renounce their evil ways. And God relented about the disaster which He had threatened to bring on them, and He did not bring it. (Jonah 3:5,10)

SOUP AND SONG:  Interactive community music with Lost Chord at Wales Methodist Church on  Thursday March 14th. Starting with refreshments at noon and  singing from 12:45.  All welcome.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A YOUTH MINISTRY LEADER IN THE LAKE DISTRICT?Castlerigg Manor (Diocese of Lancaster Retreat Centre) are looking for a Programme Leader to join their youth ministry team. The work involves working on retreats in the heart of the Lake District, and occasionally working on outreach visits around the area. The post is residential and comes with a salary package in the range of £26-28k, made up of paid salary, accommodation, food etc. Would suit somebody with youth ministry experience perhaps recently graduated. The Freedom Programme: The Freedom Programme is for women who are experiencing or have previously experienced domestic abuse, it is an 11-week programme delivered in an environment that is safe, caring and relaxed. It is taking place at;

The aim of the programme is to;

• Provide information that will help you

understand abuse.

• Help you to recognise the beliefs held

by abusive men.

• Assist you to meet other women with

esteem.

• Help you recognise future abusers and

move on to abuse free lives.

• Provide the information in a

confidential and safe environment.
