RIP BRENDAN HANDLEY: Brendan had suffered ill health for a number of years. He passed away peacefully at home on Friday 24th June surrounded by his loving family, his wife Christine and children Rebecca, Matthew, Judith and Luke. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by the family and the wider community at St Joseph’s. The Requiem Mass will take place on 20th July at 12 noon.


THE POPE’S INTENTIONS FOR JULY: Elderly We pray for the elderly, who represent the roots and memory of a people; may their experience and wisdom help young people to look towards the future with hope and responsibility.


THANK YOU: Fr Eamonn writes to thank us for the warm welcome he received to our Parish last week. He writes: There was a great feeling there in both communities, so please put a word in your Newsletter/Bulletin thanking everyone on my behalf for supporting our Spiritan Missions around the world.


GOLDEN WEDDING: Congratulations to Frank and Chris Fanning on the occasion of their Golden Wedding Anniversary on the 8th July. We extend warm wishes for a joyful celebration to you both.


ZOOM MASSES: From July Mass will be live streamed via Zoom the first Sunday of each month for a 6 month period.


LECTIO DIVINA: Following an inspiring and lively focus on the Parable of the Sower in the first of this series of ecumenical gatherings the next meeting takes place at All Hallows Church, at Harthill at 7pm Thursday 7thJuly. All welcome.


CARMEL CARE: Volunteers Needed for Carmel Care

Do you have 2 hours a week to spare, would you like to support our community at the Carmel Care Centre? We are seeking committed and caring individuals to support our activity sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We are particularly interested in hearing from those who have a skill or interest to share with others, for example any kind of creative arts, music or baking? DIOCESE OF HALLAM:

Safeguarding Trustee

Voluntary Role

To commence as soon as possible

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Hallam comprises of 54 parishes and 47 schools in South Yorkshire and parts of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

The Diocese is looking to recruit a Safeguarding Trustee to join and support the Board on Safeguarding matters and Chair the Safeguarding Sub Committee. The successful candidate will work in partnership with the Safeguarding team, Trustees, priests and external organisations ensuring that regulatory, advisory and scrutiny functions are carried out effectively.

Previous significant experience of working in a safeguarding role either in statutory services or relevant voluntary agency is required, ideally with an appropriate professional qualification.

Trustees of the Diocese of Hallam are Catholics in good standing with the Church and operate on a voluntary basis. The Board of Trustees meet eight times per year and the Safeguarding Sub Committee meet six times per year.

This is a volunteer post.

Closing date: noon Friday 8th July.

Interviews will be held in Sheffield, week commencing 11th July.
