PARISH PRAYER FOR THE WEEK: We pray for women around the world, especially those experiencing injustice or oppression. May God’s Spirit strengthen us to work for a better world, where all people can flourish and fulfil their potential. LHU…
(CAFOD weekly prayers of intercession)
THE POPE’S INTENTION FOR MARCH: For disarmament and peace
Let us pray that nations move toward effective disarmament, particularly nuclear disarmament, and that world leaders choose the path of dialogue and diplomacy instead of violence.
LIVE SIMPLY MARCH:
Lent is a time of fasting, reflection and re-centering our lives on God. Consider a Carbon Fast this year. A Carbon Fast draws us closer to God by caring for his creation whilst making a tangible difference to our precious Earth. For more details see the Live Simply leaflet in church or follow the link https://climatestewards.org/resources/carbon-fast-for-lent
NOTICES:
We welcome Fr Darren Reid and Fr Andrew Browne to celebrate our Masses this weekend.
RIP PAMELA MARY SMITH:
Pamela brought up her family in St Joseph’s Parish and has died aged 94. Pamela attended her son, Michael’s funeral at St Joseph’s in January. Pamela’s Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday 10th March at 11am. We hold her family in our prayers.
RETIRING COLLECTIONS:
There will be collections the weekend of 14/15 March for ‘Life’ which has been offering practical help and support for well over half a century. And for many of those years we, the people of our Diocese, have given generously to support the work of Life and we are asked to do so again this year. The need has not diminished. If anything, it has increased. In the context of the more liberal availability of abortion, Life continues to focus on practical support for women - ranging from counselling, to housing, and life-skills training. Life helps to offer positive alternatives to abortion; solutions to difficult problems when so many people do not seem to know that they are possible and available.
Life also helps those who have experienced the loss of a baby in any circumstances to cope with their loss. The Life way is always a compassionate way, grounded on the value of the unborn child and in solidarity with the pregnant woman.
Life’s contact details are: lifecharity.org.uk Tel: 0808 802 5433
