NOTICES

RIP PAT WILSON: Pat died peacefully on the 22nd of April at Rotherham Hospital. He would have celebrated his 95th birthday on July 14th. Pat’s life will be celebrated on the 17th of May at 11am at St.Joseph’s Church followed by a burial at Todwick Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Wyn and his two sons Terry and Phillip.

THE POPE’S INTENTIONS FOR MAY: Faith-Filled Young People We pray for all young people, called to live life to the fullest; may they see in Mary’s life the way to listen, the depth of discernment, the courage that faith generates, and the dedication to service.

SYNOD: SYNTHESIS REPORT OF THE DIOCESAN PHASE: This Synthesis of the listening and discernment that has taken place in the diocese for the past six months has been submitted to the Bishops’ Conference. You can find a summary of what has been said included with today’s issues of the Hallam News. You can also read the full Synthesis on the Synod pages of the Diocesan Website at this address https://hallam-diocese.com/synod/. You will see that there is much about the Church that brings joy to people as well as much that we need to do to be a Church that allows and encourages all to respond to their baptismal calling.

MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS – Caritas Hallam Appeal: Caritas Hallam offers a professional Schools Service to support children’s mental health and well-being within our schools. They also provide professional counselling and ‘cradle to grave’ help and support to everyone in our communities. But not everyone can afford to pay for the help they need. Over the weekend of the 14-15 May, there will be a second collection to support the work of Caritas Hallam, and every penny will be going to support the mental health of the people in our Diocese. Please be as generous as you can. Thank you.

LIVE SIMPLY MAY:

Help the Poor

Join the CAFOD Campaign to Fix the Food System: Our global food system is broken. A few giant corporations put profits before people, and millions of small farmers who grow our food are kept in poverty. The UK government must implement its COP26 commitments and support agricultural systems that put local communities first and protect the planet.
