Mount St Mary’s College

College Priest Chaplain

• Stipend allowance

• Free detached house provided with the option of free meals in the college refectory

• Optional use of a car for which the successful applicant will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep

Start date: September, 2023.

Mount St Mary’s College is a secondary school in the Jesuit tradition. We are seeking to appoint a priest chaplain to our Roman Catholic college. This role would suit a retired priest who would like to continue to be engaged in some active ministry, in the sharing of daily Mass in particular, whilst also enjoying a slower pace of life in our rural setting.

Set in impressive grounds, The Mount is an idyllic place for children to grow into the fullness of our Jesuit vision, becoming good 'Men and Women for Others' from the moment they join us. We are a boarding school and a variety of both national and international students board from the age of 11 upwards. Our preparatory school, Barlborough Hall, receives children between the ages of 3-11.

We have been a Catholic school for 180 years, rooted in our original Jesuit mission that began over 400 years ago in the Spinkhill area. We have two beautiful chapels, each with their own rich history, a vibrant chaplaincy department and a very active lay chaplain.

The priest chaplain will support and encourage the spiritual lives of those who profess a Christian faith, whilst welcoming those of other faiths and of none.

Duties will include:

• Daily voluntary Mass at the College

• Sunday Mass at the College

• Supporting the liturgical life of the College

• One weekday weekly Mass at the prep school

• Supporting the College with retreats and occasional assemblies

Closing date:

21st April, 2023

Expressions of interest to:

Mrs Seanead O’Neill
