THANKYOU: Trevor and family wish to thank everyone who attended Elaine’s funeral which was so well supported, and also to thank everyone for the generous donations. A total of   £557 was collected for Doncaster Food Bank which comes to £ 675 including the tax returns.


WORLD MISSION SUNDAY: There will be retiring collections for World Misson Sunday after Masses this weekend, 19th and 20th October.


YOUNG ADULTS RETREAT:  Retreat at St Vincent’s Mission Hub Sheffield, on Saturday 9 November, offers young adults (aged 16-35 or Year 11+) from across Hallam Diocese and beyond, the opportunity to come together and explore what it means to be in relationship with God.  Tickets can be purchased from https://www.youth2000.org/events/sheffield2024


FAREWELL Sr CLARE: As Sr Clare Smith RSM leaves Hallam Diocese to move to Derby, a celebration Mass of Thanksgiving to mark the ending of her ministry to the Diocese of Hallam will be held on Sunday 17th November 2024 at 2:30pm at St William of York Church, Ecclesall Road Sheffield, followed by special refreshments, provided by Butlers Pantry Caterers, Derby. Chief Concelebrant will be Bishop Ralph and Bishop John, Emeritus Bishop of Hallam, will also be present as will PP, Fr John Cooke. The Sisters of Mercy would like to thank Fr John and the parishioners of St Williams for the use of the church and the parish hall.

 Sr Clare is the last remaining Sister of Mercy to leave the Diocese, ending an association with the Sisters which stretches back 141 years.

 Please note, parking spaces are limited, although the Car Park at the Co Op store near the church has time limited paid car parking.

 If you are planning to attend, please inform the parish office at St William of York: office@stwilliamofyorksheffield.org.uk by 1 November, so numbers for catering can be calculated.  


WEEK OF GUIDED PRAYER:   Hosted by the Jesuit Institute in partnership with the Diocese of Hallam Sunday 1st to Friday 6th December.  Perfect for busy people a week of guided prayer to deepen your relationship with God. Explore new ways of praying. Find help with making decisions.

PREPARING FOR THE NEW LECTIONARY:  A new translation of the lectionary will come into use on the first Sunday of Advent (1 December 2024). To help readers and others prepare for this change, and specifically help readers prepare for the proclamation of this new translation, the Formation and Mission Team are planning to have two training sessions: Monday 21 October 7:00 -8:30 pm at the Pastoral Centre and Saturday 16 November 10:00-11:30 am at Blessed Trinity, Northfield Lane, Wickersley, Rotherham S66 2HL. The sessions are aimed primarily at readers but open to others.
