Just a brief update on the progress of the synod in the Diocese. Most parishes are well underway with specially arranged synod listening groups and/or having synodal conversations in existing groups. For those who have not been able to join a listening group in their parish, there are three opportunities to join a Diocesan-wide listening group, either in person or on-line on the following dates:

22 January 2022 Blessed Trinity, Wickersley, Rotherham 10:00-12:30

29 January 2022 St Michael and All Angels, Wombwell 10:00-12:30 (New venue and date)

5 February 2022 All Saints Catholic High School, Sheffield 10:00-12:30

19 February 2022 St Peter’s Doncaster 10:00-12:30

Participants will need to register to join by visiting the Eventbrite page and choose the event they want to attend:

Two other events scheduled, are a talk by Fr Paul Nicholson SJ on Discernment, and a study morning on ‘How the Second Vatican Council led to the synod on synodality’ with Greg Ryan. These will be primarily aimed at your parish synod representatives. Keep an eye on the diocesan website for notifications of other opportunities or get in touch with Fionnuala Frances and Kevan Grady for more information and help.

Please note the January Hallam News delivery included printed copies of the Diocesan Survey which can be completed and returned.

Finally, over the coming weeks we intend to send a weekly newsletter insert to try to ensure that as many people as possible can participate in the synodal process”. (Fionnuala Frances and Kevan Grady Synod Coordinators)
