PARISH PRAYER FOR THE WEEK: We pray for all parts of the world suffering from conflict and violence: may the ways of reconciliation, justice and peace prevail. Lord, in your mercy...(Source: CAFOD Weekly prayers of intercession)
NOTICES
SIGN OF PEACE: Please feel free to make the Sign of Peace as you feel comfortable to do so. We recognise that, with the increase in Covid cases and respiratory illnesses, not everyone may feel at ease shaking hands. If you prefer to give a wave that is fine.
LIVE SIMPLY AWARD (CAFOD): The parish has applied to work towards the CAFOD Live Simply Award. It will just be a continuation of our Live Simply Campaign, working towards the award will give us a focus and motivate us to continue our efforts. We were asked to apply by the Hallam Diocese Environment Leads as they have been impressed by the work we have been doing in our Live Simply Campaign this year. They feel that if our parish applies to work towards the award it will encourage other parishes in the diocese to start a Live Simply journey of their own
CSE: Many will remember how Liam Harron has helped the parish stand up for victims and survivors of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) in Rotherham. In May 2021 a judge found that, in his judgement, Rotherham Council were in contempt of court for failing to provide information to Liam. He then referred the case to what is called the Upper Tribunal for that tribunal to decide an appropriate sanction (punishment). It has taken until 18 October for the case to be heard in the Upper Tribunal at the Royal courts of Justice in London. The judge said that no one has succeeded in doing this before. Please hold Liam in your thoughts and prayers.
FUND RAISER: An adult survivor of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) in Rotherham has been defrauded out of most of her compensation money by a conman who lives in South Yorkshire. Working closely with this adult survivor, Liam has created a crowd fundraiser to help raise money for a legal case. If you can support this it will be greatly appreciated: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/atc-atc
SCRIPTURE GROUP: There will be a Parish Scripture Group running for 6 weeks on Mondays from 7th November 2022. We will begin at 6.45pm for a cuppa and a chat before the meeting begins at 7pm and will last for an hour. Anyone interested please contact Anne-Marie Carroll on 07841038633 just so we can be aware of numbers.
CONFIRMATION: Anyone interested in Confirmation beginning in February next year, please contact Anne-Marie Carroll 07841038633 or Alison Bergomi 07977341619

ARISE SHEFFIELD: supporting prayer and mission in your parish.
Arise Sheffield is a citywide, multi-denominational prayer and mission movement. Which seeks to support individuals and church communities to deepen their discipleship through becoming more connected with Jesus, and other believers across the city. Arise invites churches to citywide prayer and mission activities that recentre the major Christian festivals on Christ: at Easter, the Feast of All Saints, and Christmas.
Right now, we are inviting Sheffield’s believers to join in with Arise Hallow, shining their light during a dark season and offering a positive response to Halloween. Through Wear Your Faith Fortnight (where believers are invited to wear a visible symbol of their faith for the two weeks sandwiching Halloween), and Streets of Light (inviting believers to illuminate a positive message in the window of their house in the week approaching Halloween), we’re supporting Christians across the city to live their faith authentically, letting it pervade their everyday life.
Our hope is that by rising up together at these times, we can feel encouraged and inspired to live our beliefs more boldly all year round. We also publish the Arise! Magazine (Follow the QR code) , in which Bishop Ralph Heskett, Father Lee Marshall, and other lay Catholics are among the regular contributors. The magazine shares and celebrates the ways that God is working through believers across Sheffield, in many different churches and contexts.
