LET ME SERVE YOU: A Jubilee For Volunteers:
Bishop Ralph will celebrate our final Jubilee Mass this holy year for those who serve others across the diocese. All are invited to gather at Immaculate Conception Church, Rotherham, S65 3BA on Saturday 15th November at 11am. This is an invitation to everyone who volunteer their time in service to others, be it cleaning; taking communion to the housebound; flower arranging; running groups/events for the youth and elderly; work for our charities and lay organisations; or just popping in to help a neighbour, to name but a few. The liturgy is a chance to bless and give thanks for their work, as signs of hope in our world today. Cake will be served afterwards, and there is a chance to view the national Jubilee Icon, that is visiting our diocese at this time.
BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD”:

LOYOLA CERTIFICATE IN PASTORAL MINISTRY:
During the past year participants in the Loyola Certificate in Pastoral Ministry have been meeting together to consider how they can develop a range of pastoral ministries in the diocese. It is opportune that during this time we have been encourage by Pope Francis to walk together in a synodal way. Pope Leo is also encouraging us to continue this journey…to be a synodal Church, a Church that moves forward, a Church that always seeks peace, that always seeks charity, that always seeks to be close above all to those who are suffering” (First Blessing, 8 May 2025). This seems to be a good opportunity to expand this group and invite others who have already been involved in the synodal journey, and those who want to become involved.
If you are interested, please get in touch with Fionnuala or Kevan in the Formation and Mission team and come along to the next meeting, which will be held at the Pastoral Centre and on Zoom, on Friday 7 November 7:00-8:30pm. In the meantime, we recommend that anyone who is interested takes the 4 week School for Synodality Course which is available on their youtube page: https://www.youtube.com/@School-for-Synodality
EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF COMMUNION – Youth Training Opportunity:
This weekend, the diocesan youth will gather for their usual meeting where Sue will introduce the role of Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion—This stems from the interest and requests of young people themselves and the times in Padley when we have not had anyone except Sue to step in.h
In response, Sue is offering a training session for young people aged 16–25, in collaboration with the diocesan formation team. This will take place on Friday 14th November, 6–9pm, and is designed especially for those new to the ministry. It will not include a commissioning service.
As well as Catechesis on the Blessed Sacrament, the training will include practical guidance on:
• Distributing communion reverently—on the tongue or in the hand
• Offering blessings appropriately
• Purifying the sacred vessels
Young people who feel called to this ministry will be asked to approach their parish priest to seek permission to participate. If it is your usual practice to train ministers locally, please feel free to do so. Alternatively, they are welcome to join the diocesan training specifically directed to the young.
We hope that these newly trained ministers will also be able to serve within their school communities when needed.
Thank you, as always, for your generous support and accompaniment of our young people.
DIGITAL GIVING:
Hopefully you have seen the credit card reader which has recently been installed at the back of St Joseph’s church. Sadly there was a small deficit last year in our parish funds and therefore it needs to be as easy as possible for parishioners to contribute to our parish.
There are now two new ways of cashless giving
1. It’s very easy to use the card reader at the back of church, clear instructions are with the machine,
OR
2. You can use the QR code in church and on the website, just scan the code and follow the simple instructions
