THE POPE’S INTENTION FOR JANUARY: For The Gift Of Diversity In The Church
Let us pray that the Holy Spirit helps us recognize the gift of different charisms within the Christian community, and to discover the richness of different ritual traditions in the heart of the Catholic Church.
NOTICES
RIP JOHN CONROY: Many will have sadly learned of the death of John via the What’s App group and from notices at Mass. John died peacefully at home on the 15th December at the great age of 95 years. He is now reunited with his beloved wife Carol. John was a much loved member of our community. He attended Kiveton regularly and St. Joseph’s and is greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughters Jill, Barbara, Sheila, Kate, Joanne and Isabelle and their families. John’s funeral is on Thursday 18th January at 1.00pm at St Joseph’s Church followed by burial at South Anston cemetery.
FATHER ANDY WRITES: A very happy new year to you all. As we look forward to 2024, a year designated by Pope Francis as a year of prayer, we are blessed to be a community who prayerfully show faith in action with so many parishioners devoting time and energy to support the parish and as we look forward to another year I pray that God who inspires such action may be your reward. Our parish is blessed to be named for St Joseph, who is also known as St. Joseph the Worker, a feast celebrated in May. May we be inspired by him to continue our devoted work to care for and strengthen our parish throughout the New Year. Love Andy.
ADVENT COLLECTIONS: A big thank you to the parish for your kind donations to the Salvation Army food bank. Also a big thank you to all those who have been donating to Koby Foundation and Mary’s Meals, by writing their names on the cards on the Christmas tree. Totals collected will be announced after Christmas but already we have over £120. Thank you.

FRIENDS OF THE HOLY LAND: The situation for Christian families in the Holy Land has gone from very difficult to critical, amidst the turmoil and horror of the Israeli/Palestinian war and we face the possibility of the last members of the ancient Christian community leaving the homeland of our faith forever. Friends of the Holy Land has provided practical help to 1,100 people sheltering in the Gaza church compounds – including children and people who are injured and ill and the Al-Ahli Hospital, which is still doing its best to look after patients who can’t be moved. All together over £90,000 has been sent so far, so that those sheltering in their churches and the hospital could survive. The usual Christmas traditions and celebrations in Bethlehem are suspended in solidarity with those suffering. We are asked to support their appeal by donating to:
