Easter Tridiuum 2024


MAUNDAY THURSDAY MARCH 28TH 2024

 

7.00pm.HOLY SACRAMENT OF THE MASS

with the washing of the feet of the 1st Holy Communion Children

 

This is the first act of the great drama play ‘The Triduum’ in which we all take part.

We are not spectators, but participants in the ‘Institution of the Eucharist’

After the Mass the Eucharist is carried in procession to the

Altar of Repose in the Parish Rooms.

We leave the Church in silence

GOOD FRIDAY March 29th 2024


3.00 pm  CELEBRATION OF THE LORDS PASSION AND DEATH

The second act of our ‘Triduum’ focuses on the Passion and Death of Jesus- not in a mourning way, but seeing the Cross of Christ as a victory over death, which promises new life.

In this celebration of the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ

a)    we listen to the words of Scripture as told by our readers to help us to understand the sufferings of Jesus

b)   we pray for the needs of the whole world

c)    we walk with Jesus on his final journey in the Stations of the Cross

d)    we worship the Cross as a symbol of his triumph

e)    we receive Holy Communion

The climax of Holy Week and indeed of the Church’s year.                                       

The Baptismal liturgy speaks for itself – Water, Light, Life, and it invites us to experience the new life of Christ as a community.
