THE POPE’S INTENTION FOR OCTOBER: For the Synod We pray for the Church, that she may adopt listening and dialogue as a lifestyle at every level, and allow herself to be guided by the Holy Spirit towards the peripheries of the world.

SYNOD: We are asked to hold the forthcoming Synod in prayer as it commences 4th October in Rome.There are a number of ways to do this. There is a Zoom prayer and share meeting Friday 6th October at 5pm (this will provide an opportunity for prayer and discussion in the diocese) and also we can pray with the World on the first Monday of each month - see: https://www.prayforthesynod.va/en/. There are also links on the Diocesan website with bidding prayers that can be used in Masses at weekends and during the week:


SOUP AND SONG: After a very enjoyable maiden session with Lost Chord the second free Interactive community music session will take place Thursday October 12th, 12-2pm at Wales Methodist Church. Come along and have a good old sing song. (Dementia friendly). “When words fail, Music speaks”.


CERTIFICATE IN PASTORAL MINISTRY: Last opportunity for participants in the Loyola University Certificate in Pastoral Ministry which begins in October. The customized certificate consists of ten six-week modules delivered in an online format allowing participants the freedom and flexibility of study in their own home. Participants need to be serious about their own faith development, willing to serve in the local church and have competent computer skills. If you would like to find out more please email your details to formation-mission@hallam-diocese.com


VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY AT CARMEL CARE: We are in need of a volunteer to support the delivery of lunches for our group on a Thursday between 10.30 and 1.30. If you can help us please get in touch.

THE LIGHT PROJECT - Programmes for women:

The Freedom Programme: is for women who are experiencing or have previously experienced domestic abuse.

It is an 11 week programme, delivered in an environment that is safe, caring and relaxed.

It is taking place at:-

St Vincent's Mission Hub, Solly St, Sheffield City Centre, Sheffield S1 4DE

From Tuesday 10th October 2023 at 1.30pm

Free Wellbeing Course for Women

A free six-week course for a happier and more relaxed you.

Starting for six weekly sessions from Wednesday 4th October 2023 online at 6pm -7pm

Join us to explore;

- Emotional Self-care – Emotional self-care allows us to take time for the benefit of our health and well-being.

- Thinking about putting your own needs first - building your resilience.

- Being more assertive and setting boundaries – so that you can communicate better and more effectively at home and work.

- Stress and relaxation techniques – learning new skills for a more relaxed you.

- Build resilience and recover from trauma – To move forward in our life.

Come and join us for these relaxed, friendly and supportive sessions!
