“It has been suggested that while we are having zoom Masses that we might be able to join in with the Mass on line more fully. The idea is to have ready at Mass time some bread and wine in your own home and when it is time for Holy Communion, we can all share in the Eucharistic celebration in a much richer way. So when I, as the priest, consecrate the bread and wine, those on zoom having the bread and wine in their presence are able to all eat and drink and share the same Eucharistic meal together. Hopefully this will help us to feel that we are still a faith community and close to the Lord and close to one another.”

For those unable to partake as above and who wish to receive Spiritual Communion the Catholic Bishops Conference offers the following prayer for recitation:

Oh my Jesus, I believe that you are present in this Holy Sacrament of the altar.

I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally come spiritually into my soul.

so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen

Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

To you God entrusted his only Son; in you Mary placed her trust;

with you Christ became man.

Blessed Joseph, to us too, show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life.

Obtain for us grace, mercy, and courage, and defend us from every evil.

Let us pray for the Church, that she may receive from the Holy Spirit the grace and strength to reform herself in the light of the Gospel.

MASSES: Please be aware that there is no longer a requirement for you to book a place in Church to attend Mass.

HOME FROM HOME HALLAM - Refugee Family Welcome: Five parishes in the Diocese of Hallam are actively involved in a project, to welcome a refugee family to Sheffield, and to support them through their first two years in their new home. This project was initiated in our diocese and supported by Bishop Ralph. The group has been meeting for three months to develop their application to the Home Office.

We will be needing help. At the moment we would love to hear from anyone who could help us to set up a presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. And as we progress, we are likely to need help from people with many different skills.

If you would like to know more about this project or if you would like to become involved, please contact Eva Kaltenthaler ( ).

YOUNG CHRISTIAN’S CLIMATE NETWORK:S RELAY WALK: A group of young Christians started walking from Cornwall after the G7 meeting in June, and are aiming to reach Glasgow for the COP 26 meeting in November, when the world is hoping its leaders will come up with right and just decisions for planet and people.

They will be reaching London this weekend and there will be an ecumenical service organised with Cafod at Farm St. church and Westminster Cathedral.

And they will be in the Hallam Diocese from September the 4-6th.

They will reach Chesterfield on the 4th. Welcoming and support is being organised by Churches Together there, among other organisations, which will include the Catholic parishes.

The route then goes up through Dronfield to Sheffield, arriving in central Sheffield on Sunday 5th. There will be an ecumenical event at the Anglican Cathedral.

From central Sheffield on the Monday, they will walk to Bamford, and from there on to Manchester.

The walk is organised by the YCCN, who are a group of 18-30 year olds particularly concerned about Climate Justice for the earth and its people. It is open to people of any age and of any faith or none.

We can all pray for their enterprise, and even join the walk for a couple of miles or witness them on their route. There should be information on the Hallam Cafod website and on the Justice and Peace area of the Diocesan website.
