A MESSAGE FROM FR ANDY: MASSES ON ZOOM

“It has been suggested that while we are having zoom Masses that we might be able to join in with the Mass on line more fully. The idea is to have ready at Mass time some bread and wine in your own home and when it is time for Holy Communion, we can all share in the Eucharistic celebration in a much richer way. So when I, as the priest, consecrate the bread and wine, those on zoom having the bread and wine in their presence are able to all eat and drink and share the same Eucharistic meal together. Hopefully this will help us to feel that we are still a faith community and close to the Lord and close to one another.”

For those unable to partake as above and who wish to receive Spiritual Communion the Catholic Bishops Conference offers the following prayer for recitation:

Oh my Jesus, I believe that you are present in this Holy Sacrament of the altar.

I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally come spiritually into my soul.

so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen

NOTICES

SHEILA WADE RIP: Sheila died peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a long illness. Sheila was born in Co Meath, Ireland. She married in St Joseph’s Church and settled in Wickersley. The funeral will take place Tuesday 9th March at 1.30. Our thoughts and prayers are with Noel, Walter, Shaun, Jane and Andrew and the family. May she rest in peace.

PRAYER FOR THE YEAR OF ST JOSEPH: Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

To you God entrusted his only Son; in you Mary placed her trust;

with you Christ became man.

Blessed Joseph, to us too, show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life.

Obtain for us grace, mercy, and courage, and defend us from every evil.

Amen.

THE POPE’S INTENTIONS FOR MARCH: Sacrament of Reconciliation

Let us pray that we may experience the sacrament of reconciliation with renewed depth, to taste the infinite mercy of God

TWIN MY VACCINE: UNICEF are raising funds to deliver 2 billion COVID vaccines across low and middle income countries including to the most remote places. Donations can be made to UNICEF on line or by ringing 0300 330 5699. There is also a Just Giving page that has been set up by Rowan and Scott Patterson if you prefer to give via that option (They have raised over £42,000 so far). This is a very worthy cause and in the long run keeps us all safe. It costs about £4 per person to vaccinate us in the UK. Could you consider matching the cost of your vaccine so someone else can receive theirs?

GENOCIDE RESPONSE CAMPAIGN: Right to Life UK are asking us to contact our MP to support a NEW amendment to help stop forced abortion in Xinjiang, China. There is extensive evidence that many women in the Uyghur Muslim community in Xinjiang, China are being subjected to forced abortions. Lord Alton is currently championing a new amendment to the Trade Bill, to help put international pressure on the Chinese Communist Party to stop the practice of forced abortions and wider human rights abuses that evidence shows is being perpetuated against the Uyghur community. The amendment passed in the Lords on 23 February by 367 votes to 214, and is likely to be voted on in the Commons shortly. If you would like to email your MP asking them to support the amendment, you can do this easily using a tool which has been set up on the Genocide Response campaign website, which can be accessed by visiting the link below:

WALK FOR WATER WITH CAFOD THIS LENT: CAFOD Walk for Water Lent Appeal. Please donate to the CAFOD Walk for Water Appeal this lent. We take clean water for granted; it just comes from the taps in our homes. One in three people in the world don’t have access to clean water close to their homes. The money you give will help people like Abdella and Hagos in Ethiopia who are struggling to cope in an increasingly hotter and drier climate. Abdella walks for 10 hours a day to collect water for his family. Hagos and his family nearly starved due to drought, but thanks to our Church family and support like yours, CAFOD provided him with solar-powered water pumps. Hagos and his neighbours now have flowing water to cultivate their land. Water is precious and we take it for granted, please help! Ways to Donate:

• Put your donation in an envelope, label it CAFOD Walk for Water and drop it through the door of the presbytery

• Sponsor St Joseph’s Dinnington Walk for Water Team on Just Giving.

Nine parishioners, are taking part in the 40 day Walk for Water Challenge, we will be walking 10,000 steps a day for 40 days in solidarity with Abdella and Hagos. You can either sponsor a team member when they ask, or click on the link on the Parish What’s App Group, or click on the link below and press donate to a team member. https://www.justgiving.com/team/st-josephs-dinnington-walk-for-water
